Profhilo treatment– What’s All The Excitement About?

Introducing the new kid on the block (insert your own drum roll here) we’d love you to meet Profhilo!

We all know that when we hit 30, we start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid and when that happens we start to think about preventative treatments. There’s plenty of options already on the market, depending on what kind of result you’re after but Profhilo is fast becoming a favourite.

Learn ore about out anti-wrinkle injections and how can you benefit from them.

    What is Profhilo treatment?

It’s a new Hyaluronic Acid gel treatment which has one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market and helps to lift and hydrate your skin, leading a rejuvenated, radiant appearance. Essentially it significantly improves the tissue quality (which can actually compliment all other aesthetic or cosmetic procedures.)

Our body produces less hyaluronic acid as we grow in age. This may cause, skin to dry, wrinkles and dryness. Profhilo is a new form of injectable therapy that reduces these unwanted effects and help in anti-ageing.

Profhilo can be used in the Face, neck, and décolletage. On the body it can treat the hands, upper arms and above the knees – put simply, It helps to get rid of crepey skin by hydrating it from inside out.

We also cover other non-surgical facial treatments like, microneedling/dermapen, plasma elite.

What’s the difference between Profhilo and Filler?

Profhilo is highly purified hyaluronic acid which is injected into the skin. It initially hydrates the skin and goes on to stimulate your natural collagen and elastin production for a rejuvenating effect.

Dermal fillers also tend to be hyaluronic acid based with additional ingredients included. Like Profhilo, dermal fillers are injected into the skin.

While this sounds similar, both work quite differently. Dermal fillers just work on a particular area, like cheeks or lips and do not spread to the area surrounding it.

Profhilo contains the highest amount of concentrated hyaluronic acid which helps in producing more collagen. Hyalyronic acid holds moisture by heat bonding rather than chemical bonding when injected. Consequently, Profhilo offers amazing anti-aging benefits for our skin by acting as a hydrator rather than a filler!

Other than hyaluronic acid, fillers have other components too. It also consists of calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a mineral and a major component found in bones.

Filler adds more volume and structure to the specific areas while profhilo does not.

Profhilo gives more nuanced results than fillers. They are used for overall skin enhancement while fillers are for redefining shapes and sizes.

Unlike Profhilo, they are targeted at specific areas to replenish lost volume and repair skin damage, as well as increasing natural collagen and elastin levels in that area.

How often should you have Profhilo?

You do need 2 sessions with around a four-week gap so you don’t overload (2mls at a time is the most you can do) or irritate the skin but you get more of the effect with two.

After the initial treatment phase spaced in 4 weeks, you should get the maintenance sessions every 6 months. This slight touch up can give longer lasting results and a constant hydrating skin.

Frequency of getting a profhilo also depends on factors like:

Skin type and condition: A dry and more damaged skin will need profhilo more frequently than other skin types.

Age: As collagen concentration is less in aged skin, they would need the sessions more often than a younger skin.

Time of results: If you wish you get results faster, you should take more frequent sessions.

Sensitivity: A highly sensitive skin should many sessions in a small window as this can cause skin irritation.

    How does Profhilo work?

You can expect to see a gradual intense hydration, improvement in lines and tightness of your skin. After eight weeks is when you will see the most improvement with a lifting and tightening of the skin – it will be more hydrated and appear more youthful and in better health. Some patients have reported an immediate improvement after treatment. Overall, you can expect increased firmness, elasticity and an overall improved quality of skin, with the effects lasting up to six months or longer.

The effects are temporary and repeat treatments of 1 or 2 sessions can be carried out from approximately 6 months onward in order to maintain the results and, and as with every treatment, results will vary from person to person and depends upon the degree of correction required, your age and lifestyle, and to your body’s response to treatment.

Does Profhilo help with heavy lines?

No, Profhilo won’t fill heavy lines.  It’s a skin quality treatment, for smoother texture, bounce, plumpness, elasticity. It remodels skin but will not make any difference to contours.

For lift, you need fillers and for addressing formed lines like the forehead or crow’s feet, wrinkle relaxing injections is still best. But really if you’re having wrinkle relaxing injections and filler treatments you should also consider Profhilo – it will work in the background to make other injectable results look better and last longer thanks to a better quality of tissue.

Profhilo isn’t the easiest of products to administer. Inject too deeply and the HA can’t get to the surface of the skin to do its job of smoothing and elasticating and inject too lightly and you end up with a face of acid-filled pimples that eventually fade into nothing so, as with all injectables, you should always go somewhere where they know what they are doing.

If you think it’s for you then we’d love to welcome you into our clinic for a consultation with one of our specialists.
