Plastic Surgery Trends Arriving in 2019

As 2018 draws to a close, we take a look at the treatments and surgeries that are set to rule the plastic surgery industry in 2019.

    Breast Reductions

Breast implants may have been among the most popular treatments a decade ago, but recent figures suggest this is no longer the case. 2017 saw a 20% decrease in breast augmentation procedures for women, while the number of breast reductions for both genders, rose. Opting for breasts that fit better with body shape, weight and height for women, or the ‘need’ to reduce man boobs for men explain this trend, as well as a cultural shift in what is considered attractive.

“Breast reductions are consistently reported as one of the highest patient satisfaction procedures because it positively affects a woman’s quality of life. It addresses both functional and aesthetic concerns.” Jeffrey E. Janis, President of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons

2019 will see this rise continue, along with the addition of laser bra lifts.

    Anti-ageing Injections

Anti-ageing injections will still rule the non-surgical side of the industry, due to its ability to fight signs of ageing, removing lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet in the process. 2019 will also see people opting for Anti-ageing injectionsas a preventive treatment, especially in young people wanting to prolong their youthful face for as long as possible. With rumours circulating that surgeons abroad are formulating an updated Anti-ageing injections that will stop wrinkles occurring in the first place, and that 2019 may see a new procedure surface that will blow Anti-ageing injections out of the water, we can’t wait to see what happens.

    Labiaplasty

2017 dubbed labiaplasty, ‘the world’s fastest-growing cosmetic procedure’, seeing a 45% rise year-on-year. Usually removing extra tissue (‘Trim Technique’) or reducing tissue and reshaping the labia (‘Wedge Technique’), there are various reasons why more and more women have been opting for this treatment:

“Most female patients request labiaplasty to help minimise pain, while others request it to improve the aesthetic appearance of their genital area. This procedure empowers women, and helps them achieve a better quality of life through increased comfort and sexual confidence,” Lina Triana, The International Society of Plastic Surgery.

With a high patient satisfaction rate, it’s no wonder that this trend will continue in 2019.

    Dermal Fillers

Popularised by celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Priyanka Chopra, fillers are set to make it big in 2019. Used to rejuvenate the cheeks, lips, eye area, nose and chin, these collagen and hyaluronic acid-filled injections are proving a great alternative to face lifts, themselves on the decrease.

Similarly, the non-surgical nose job, which involves injecting dermal fillers into the nose to restructure and reshape it, is frequently being chosen over rhinoplasty due to its non-invasive nature.

    PRP

Plastic surgeons around the country are predicting that PRP (platelet-rich plasma) will be big in 2019, due to its multi-functional nature. PRP involves drawing blood from a patient, separating out the platelets from the red blood cells and injecting the former back into the skin. This boosts natural healing, removing wrinkles, lines and sun damage, as well as stimulating hair growth.

We can’t wait to see what else 2019 brings. To find out more about any of the treatments mentioned in this post, please call us today on 0151 374 2725.

    Plastic Surgery Trends: 2018

Three months in and we’re already in the full swing of things in 2018. Last year we saw rhinoplasty, facelifts and tummy tucks among the most requested plastic surgeries, but this year the trends are set to change. Let’s take a look at what 2018 has in store.

    Plastic Surgery Trends for Women

    Thighlighting

Making the legs appear longer, leaner and lovelier will be a big trend, as celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner continue to grow our leg envy. Thighlighting includes thigh lifts, contoured inner and outer thighs, liposuction and calf implants, as well as thigh gaps.

    Better Anti-ageing Injection

Surgeons abroad claim to be working on an already impressive Anti-ageing formula, that will beat wrinkles and potentially stop future ones from forming. We can’t wait to see the results.

    Natural-looking Breasts

Let’s face it, a bigger chest is not always best. Breast implants that seem to better fit in with body shape, weight and height will be favoured over bigger ones to create a more believable look.

    Careers

It’s predicted that more women will opt for plastic surgery courses and enter the cosmetic surgery industry. Here come the girls.

    Plastic Surgery Trends for Men

    Breast Reduction

As man boobs can negatively impact male self-esteem, men will look to reduce them using liposuction, or in more severe cases, tissue excision.

    Eye-lid Surgery

As the eyes are the first part of the face to show aging due to bags, hooded upper lids or sagging, eye-lid surgery will continually grow in popularity. The procedure can make the eyes look younger, and by extension, the face.

    Daddy Makeovers

Men will be opting to beautify themselves through a combination of surgeries such as liposuction, tummy tucks and breast reductions, providing a quicker and more effective result than going to the gym.

Our Top Trend: More Choice of Services for Transgender Patients

With more open conversations circulating about gender and Caitlyn Jenner showing us how transgender surgery can reveal who we know we are through her eye-opening documentary and Vanity Fair feature, transgender surgery is said to steadily grow this year. And quite frankly, we think that’s wonderful.

Will these trends occur? Only time will tell.
