    Make Up Your Face

If you have hooded eyelids, you know how difficult it can make applying your makeup and you’ve probably spent a lot of time struggling to find a solution that works perfectly for you. Having hooded eyelids basically means you have an extra fold of skin that hangs over the crease of your eye. This makes your eyelid look smaller, but can also cause big problems when trying to achieve your own unique look that emphasises your beauty.

When you have hooded eyes it can be difficult to master particular looks. Because of the lack of lid space, applying eye shadow is a real pain, but doing winged liner, a cut crease, and other fabulous styles can become so difficult that most people just don’t bother. You want to create your own style and go out looking good, but instead you end up with makeup smears and smudges because your eyelashes are touching your brow bone along with other issues. Hooded eyelids take away your freedom to have fun and get creative with your makeup.

Eyelid surgery is one of the most simple and common cosmetic surgery procedures in the world. An excellent solution for hooded eyelids, a blepharoplasty procedure, also known as eyelid reduction surgery, removes excess skin and fat around the eye. The operation is an eyelid lift, and can give patients a more youthful look, correct vision problems, and helping with a number of medical problems like migraines.

People have hooded eyelids for a number of different reasons. A lot of the time it’s a simple case of genetics, but age and over-tiredness can contribute as well. Hooded eyelids can make people self-conscious about their appearance. They hurt confidence, and when you want to treat yourself by glamming up your face, your eyelids get in the way again! If this sounds familiar to you, a blepharoplasty eyelid lift might be for you.

WHAT’S INVOLVED WITH UPPER EYELID SURGERY?

For the upper eyelid surgery, your surgeon will make small skin incisions across the crease of your eyelid, removing or adjusting the extra tissue from the sagging skin. The result is a smoother eyelid with no lines or wrinkles, and the scarring will be hidden in the eyelid crease and lash line. You’ll be under general or local anaesthetic the entire time, and it should only take about an hour to complete. You can even go home the same day! That’s how easy it is.

Afterwards, we’ll remove your stitches within 3-5 days. In terms of recovery time, you’ll be able to return to work a week later. You shouldn’t drive in this time either. By then, your swelling and bruising should have calmed down. Use a cold compress or ice pack to help reduce the swelling even faster! You might experience some pink scars, numb eyelids or watery eyes, but don’t worry: they should all clear up within a few weeks of the operation.

Now, back onto the subject of makeup: as much as you may want to, patients should refrain from putting on makeup around the eyes after surgery. It’s a pain. You’ve just solved your eye makeup problems – problems you might have had your entire life – and now all you want is to make the most of it and play around with different techniques. Not to mention the fact that you might want to use a bit of makeup to cover your bruising and swelling. If you need contact lenses, make sure you don’t wear these either for a week after surgery.

It’s really important that you don’t put on makeup while your scars are healing. Keep the scars clean and dry until your stitches are out. Makeup tends to attract bacteria which means there’s a risk of getting an infection. Needless to say, you want to avoid an infection around your eye. But even if it doesn’t become infected, makeup is going to irritate your eye around the incision area.

    TIME TO HAVE SOME FUN

Once you’re all clear, it’ll be time for you to explore your new found freedom. You’ll have a more youthful appearance, and the increased eyelid space and smoother skin around your eyes are going to make putting on makeup easier than it ever was with hooded eyelids. You’ll be able to play around with makeup techniques that have always eluded you, and you’ve got a newfound chance to experiment and find a unique style to enhance your eyes’ features!

Start applying that mascara! Where it used to smudge against your brow bone, you can now use as much as you want and whatever brand you like. If your options were limited to anti-smudge and smear, those restrictions have been lifted! Using eye shadow when you have hooded eyelids is a huge pain, so now’s the time to enjoy playing around with different styles. If you’ve never seen yourself with smoky eyes, make sure you try it out and you might just find your new favourite look!

The Benefits of Eyelid Surgery | Blepharoplasty

When you look at your face, what do you see? What do you like? What do you focus on? Like many people, the eyes may be the area that you feel most conscious about, and the eye bags are the first thing you see. Eye bags can make you look older and tired and take away the beauty your eyes once held, reducing self-confidence and self-esteem. Fortunately, eye bag surgery (also known as a blepharoplasty) can restore youthfulness to your face. In this post, we look at how eye bags form, what the surgery involves and the associated benefits.

    How Do Eye Bags Form?

As we age, collagen and elastin found in the skin around the eyes start to break down, causing a reduction in elasticity. This causes the eyelids to droop and sag, resulting in unwanted skin around the eyes, leading to wrinkles and eye bags. In severe cases, the excess skin can affect your vision.

Eye bags may also be exacerbated by tiredness, smoking, an unhealthy diet or poor make-up removal. Tiredness is what gives eye bags that dark colour.

What Does Eye Bag Surgery Involve?

There are two main eye bag removal procedures: Upper Eyelid Surgery and Lower Eyelid Surgery. Briefly, the surgeries involve:

Upper Eyelid Surgery: Skin excess is removed from the upper eyelid.

Lower Eyelid Surgery: Fat bags are removed from the lower eyelid for a smooth and even look.

Both surgeries leave the patient looking refreshed, youthful and without noticeable scars.

    Benefits of Blepharoplasty

The advantages of a blepharoplasty include:

    Removal of Excess Skin

If your eye area has excess or baggy skin, it can become uncomfortable and difficult to live with. Excess skin can block your vision, rub, and even become sore. A blepharoplasty removes this excess skin, improving your quality of life.

    Removes Dark Circles

The procedure also gets rid of dark circles under the eyes and, therefore, that ‘tired’ look. Because excess fat is removed from the lower eye, it impacts the way light hits the area, making the dark circles far less visible.

    Improved Vision

One of the biggest benefits of undergoing a blepharoplasty is the fact that vision is no longer inhibited due to a lifted brow. Excess skin can droop, covering the eye and making it difficult to see clearly. By undergoing blepharoplasty, you can avoid this.

    Reduce The Look of Wrinkles

When you undergo the procedure, wrinkles, fine lines, and crow’s feet around the eyes are reduced. This gives you back your youthful appearance by focusing on the issues that create that dull, exhausted look, including drooping tissue, wrinkles, and excess skin.

    Enhance Your Natural Beauty

The procedure also enhances your face’s natural beauty by altering the shape and appearance of your eyes. Excess skin around the eyes can make you appear much older than you are, so removing this excess skin can make your face appear more aesthetically pleasing.

    Improve Your Self-esteem

The procedure can help you experience a boost in self-esteem and self-confidence as you will visibly look and feel younger. When we are not entirely comfortable with a feature of our faces, it can be challenging to focus on anything but that; this procedure takes away the emotional impact caused by excess skin.

    Long Lasting Results

The procedure results can last for years and, in some cases, are permanent. This means that you can rest easy knowing that revisions will be unlikely.
