If you have breast implants and it has been 8-10 years since your augmentation, or you are no longer happy with the results, it might be time to remove and replace your old implants.
At New Birkdale Clinic, our surgeons can remove existing breast implants and perform a re-augmentation with new implants. Several factors, such as weight change or childbirth, may inspire you to revise your augmentation. No matter the reason, we are here to offer you quality treatment.
A surgeon will conduct your initial consultation, examine you, and offer comprehensive information about what can be achieved.
You will also meet with a patient coordinator, who will answer your questions about your procedure. At this point, you will determine whether you want your implants completely removed or replaced.
If you do decide you would like to replace your implants, they will give you a chance to look at and feel the available implants.
You will then receive important information, such as surgery dates and the aftercare process.
Remember, there is no pressure, and you are not obligated to proceed with the procedure. If you are not completely satisfied with the surgeon’s consultation, you may also be able to consult with a different surgeon.

Breast implant removal and replacement surgery are performed under general anaesthetic. The surgeon will generally use your old scar as an incision point, so you do not have to worry about further scarring.
Complete removal and reinsertion of each breast should take 1-2 hours. As part of the procedure, we will also perform a Mastopexy (breast lift) and a Capsulectomy (tissue removal). These additional procedures are essential for removing excess skin and restoring your breast and nipple to the appropriate position.
If a patient decides not to have new implants inserted, an uplift may be required to improve breast shape.
Patients are usually discharged the same day and should expect the breasts to feel bruised, tender and swollen for several weeks after the procedure.
It is recommended not to partake in strenuous activities for 4-6 weeks after the procedure.
